Mosquito Control in Austin, Round Rock, Cedar Park, Leander, Georgetown, Pflugerville, Lakeway, Buda, Kyle, San Marcos, and More
We are all forced to think about mosquitos in the summer when disease prevention makes national headlines, but as pest control professionals here in Central Texas, we know that they are a year-round pest.
We offer mosquito fogging services which many customers will schedule before a backyard event such as a picnic or barbeque. This can be the most effective option in some cases.
However, prevention and awareness of their life cycle, breeding sites and harborage sites can go a long way towards your family being able to use the backyard again!
Here are some quick facts:
Species: There are over 150 species of mosquitos in the United States.
Life Cycle:They go through a complete metamorphosis. Larvae and pupae live in water and are very active, floating on top when they are not swimming.
Breeding Sites: They need water, common sites are overly watered lawns, clogged French drains and gutters, potted plants, tree knots, bird baths and toys.
Harborage Sites: Dense shrubs and any shady place protected from the wind.
Mosquito Prevention & Treatment
We recommend routinely emptying any standing water in containers, toys, patio furniture, etc. If you have any ponds or other standing water that cannot be emptied, larvicides can be placed to control mosquito breeding.
Due to the species of mosquitos that are common in our area, our application of chemicals is focused on harborage sites like shrubbery. If you have a lawn with no landscaping or shrubbery, we might not recommend a mosquito fogging service as the root of the issue could lie elsewhere.
One option we recommend for most customers is placing AGO Mosquito Buckets which attract mosquitos that then become trapped inside. These can be easily monitored to gauge activity and effectiveness of treatment. They are non-toxic and can be part of a long-term solution to your mosquito problem.
We give free consultations to recommend what is the best program for you!
