It is actually really common to find roaches in a clean house and there are a couple of reasons that this can occur.
The Dirty Cockroach
Not only are cockroach creepy but they may also be a source of bacteria that are harmful to humans. Cockroach eat dead and decaying things which are both places that you can find harmful bacteria such as salmonella and staph. There is some evidence that cockroach might also carry virus that are dangerous such as the virus responsible for polio.
Cockroaches are a serious issue – even in a clean house.
The Nature of Cockroach
The daily habits of cockroach begin when things get dark. These are scavenging insects and they begin to creep around looking for food. When they find food, they eat it and if it is a rotten apple outside, then they pick up the germs on that apple. If it is a dead mouse, then they pick up those germs from the mouse. Their system is equipped to handle the putrid and decaying germs from dead things and they bring that with them into your home.
Cockroach may be found in a clean home simply because they are wondering around looking for food. They are also attracted to water and homes, even clean ones, have water. The other thing to consider is that even the smallest of crumbs is a meal for a cockroach. Without a large population, even small crumbs are enough to feed a few cockroaches.
The problem is that cockroaches are not the smartest of creatures. They will lay eggs – up to 50 at one time – and then disperse to find food. What is left is a hoard of hungry cockroach who either leave or become bolder to find food.
Your Clean House
Even though your house is clean, your neighbor’s house may not be. Cockroach are also attracted to garbage and recycling. There is a lot of food for cockroaches in the trash and they don’t mind the fact that it is garbage. One man’s trash is a cockroach’s treasure. This is a situation that is often worse in multi-family dwellings, though even in a nice neighborhood, cockroaches prowl the streets at night.
