Part of what makes us an excellent pest control company is our vast knowledge of pests and their behaviors. Each month, we develop a hot list of pest control issues. For November, we expect to continue to deal with a variety of pests, including ants, cockroaches, rodents, and mammals. Keep reading for a brief overview of each.
It Is The Beginning of the Holiday Season
Here come the holidays, and we expect that home and business owners around the Greater Austin Area will still suffer from home invasions by ants and cockroaches. As the wet weather continues and worsens, more insects that overwinter will seek shelter in homes and businesses. Late October and into November are the prime times to deal with invading insects before the holidays.
Ant Control – Austin
You can pretty much count on ants to be a year-round problem. As the weather cools and we experience more rain, ants become more of an issue. Couple this with the decreased amount of food after harvest and the drive to find food and shelter intensifies.
November is the perfect month for ant control. That is true for two reasons. First, the ant colony is at its height and they are maintaining rather than growing. Take them out now and they are gone. Secondly, they are still foraging and that means a two-part pest control approach will destroy the colony, not just the foraging ants.
Rodent Control – Austin
Roof Rats are just one of several rodent pests. Mice and rats are also looking for winter housing and places where they can find food, water, and a place to rear their young.
You can likely hear the rodents in your home. The roof rats are fat and plump form a good summer with lots of food. As the cold weather sets in, they need someplace dry and warm, and the walls of your house are perfect. They don’t mind the attic either. You may hear them running across the ceiling or in the attic.
Squirrels are in the same boat, but they are mostly looking for shelter and safe spot to hibernate and have young. As innocuous as that sounds, they are very destructive. Like mice and rats, they will chew their way into the wall space or damage the roof, trying to find a way into the attic.
November is one of the worst months out of the year for rodent pest calls.
Generally, cockroaches stay where the food is good. However, the wet weather and cold often mean their dumpster oasis is suddenly not the most fabulous place to hang out with friends. Also, winter months means there is less garbage, and that lack of opportunity drives cockroaches to find better foraging grounds. September and November are prime cockroach invasion months.
As Fall continues to expand, we expect a lot of calls regarding ant, rodent, and cockroach invasions. For quality pest control service that is both affordable and comprehensive, give us a call. We provide home and commercial pest control throughout the Travis County.
